Imphal, Apr 24 (UNI) The Government College Teachers' Action Committee (GOCTAC) has expressed unhappiness over the way the state government was dealing with the colleges and the teaching community.

Chairperson of the committee P Laingam said the college teachers were boycotting all the officials of the education directorate as the demands of the teachers were not fulfilled.

The committee alleged that the government was 'playing politics' in appointment and other policies related to teachers. On the issue of lesser number of students attending government educational institutes, it was clarified that many subjects were removed from the institutes and the law and order situation in the state was also responsible.

As the number of students have decreased, many colleges have also been closed down, the chairperson said. The committee demanded systematic development of the colleges and more facilities for the teaching community.

Meanwhile, considering the massive outflow of students to other states, The All Manipur Students' Union, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur have announced that they will organise a two-day seminar next month to discuss the situation. All the parents have been asked to attend the seminar.
