TDP to support govt to eliminate faction killings

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said his party would support the state government in eliminating the faction killings in Rayalaseema region.

Responding to the Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's initiative to curb the faction fueds, yesterday, Mr Naidu also demanded that the government conduct a debate on the issue and prepare modalities to control the faction ridden politics in the state.

Addressing the press here, he said the Chief minister should invite all political parties for a debate on faction issues and show his sincerity in reducing the faction killings in Rayalaseema.

Pointing out that 84 TDP activists and leaders were killed in faction fueds since the Congress came to power, Mr Naidu said the TDP was ready to co-operate with the state government in eliminating the faction politics.

Alleging that the Congress ruled government and police officials were encouraging faction politics and killing TDP leaders for gaining political advantage, the TDP Chief said the government should also study the reports of Vora committee and Housing committee which had given suggestions to control faction fueds.
