RBI makes changes in Rs 1000 denomination notes
New Delhi, Apr 24: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly issue Rs 1000 denomination banknotes with the letter 'R' inset in both numbering panels in the Mahatama Gandhi Series-2005 with additional security features, bearing the signature of RBI Governor Y V Reddy.
Except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued is similiar to the banknotes issued earlier in the Mahatama Gandhi series-2005.
All Rs 1000 denomination banknotes issued by the central bank after the year 2000, will continue to be legal tender.
