MP among top ten milk-producers: Ahmad
Bhopal, Apr 24 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh is among India's ten leading milk-producing states, Iqbal Ahmad, Commissioner (Agriculture Production) said.
Recently While reviewing a meeting of the Animal Husbandry, Diary and Fisheries departments here, the bureaucrat called upon departmental officers to make the state self-reliant, an official release said here today.
Appealing to pay attention on cattle breed improvement also for boosting production, the commissioner said, ''In the wake of the state government's Cattle Breeding Policy, an artificial insemination programme is being executed. To make it a success it will be necessary to spread the programme among rural masses.'' Principal Secretary Ranjana Chaudhary asked officials to conduct veterinary camps in every development block.
''Over 9.12 lakh cattle were vaccinated. The facility for diagnosis of various diseases has been made available in all laboratories under the department,'' she said while instructing officials to bring out an annual blueprint of cattle vaccination.
Under the Nandishala Yojana, cattle-rearers are being supplied with oxen of Indian breed on grant basis. Animal welfare committees were constituted in all districts, the release added.
