KYKL claims responsibility for attacking former director
Imphal, Apr 24 (UNI) The Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has claimed responsibility for attacking former education director of Manipur Ch Jayenta.
The KYKL, in a statement released here said Jayenta was shot by its cadres near his residence at Imphal on April 4 for alleged involvement in corrupt practices. The KYKL gave a long list of the money allegedly taken by Jayenta and other details of his activities.
The outfit said, ''considering the activities of the education official and to wipe out corruption from the education sector, death penalty was awarded to him''.
However, Jayenta survived the attack and was undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Meanwhile, an Assam Rifles official said a KYKL camp was busted yesterday at Chalong at Chandel district. No one was arrested but huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the camp, sources informed.
Meanwhile, the Imphal east police said a People's Liberation Army (PLA) cadre was apprehended along with one mm 20 pistol and three live rounds, police said.
