BJP to prepare a chargesheet against Congress Govt in Punjab

Phagwara, Apr 24 (UNI) Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party will soon prepare a chargesheet about the ''anti-people'' policies of and rampant corruption in the Congress Government in the state, after receiving reports of five Study Groups which were set up by the party high command.

This was stated by BJP National Secretary Harjit Singh Grewal and Punjab BJP Organising Secretary Parshant Arora while addressing a press conference here this afternoon.

They said the BJP High Command have set up five different study groups. The first study group, which is being headed by Former Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balramji Dass Tandon, will study the problems of traders and industrialists. The second group, headed by Mr Harjit Singh Grewal, will study the problems of farmers. The third group, headed by former Minister Ch Swarna Ram, will study social justice to dalits. The fourth group, which was being headed by BJP stalwart Prof Lakshmi Kanta Chawla, will study the problems of women. The fifth group, headed by former Punjab Health Minister Manoranjan Kalia, will study the problems of youth.

They said these Study Groups would study the problems and action, if any, taken by the State Government to solve them. The Study Groups will recommend their proposals also.

Replying to a question, the BJP leaders said that their party state unit will prepare its election manifesto on the basis of these recommendations besides a separate Common Minimum Programme with its ally partner Shiromani Akali Dal headed by former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Mr Grewal and Mr Arora claimed that BJP will make ally with SAD, and the alliances with any other political party would be decided by the SAD. Regarding allotment of tickets, they said winning ability would be the main critirea, but this would be decided by the party parliamentry board.

When asked about the future of third front being floated by Mr Ramoowalia, the BJP Leaders described the third front as proxy of the Congress and claimed that the third front had no existance in the state.

Mr Grewal and Mr Arora said that the BJP's proposed Rath Yatra would be warmly welcomed in Punjab. They said all BJP activists had been instructed to bring atleast 20 workers from each village of the concerned assembly constituency for BJP rallies during rath yatra.
