Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Primary Education Minister N Rajya Laxmi today launched a week long '' Education For All'' (EFA) programme to achieve 100 per cent literacy rate in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the campaign, organised under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSY) scheme, would create awareness among the people about the importance of primary education and steps will be taken to admit children who have dropped out, in the government schools during summer holidays.

Stressing the need for an 'integrated national educational policy' for reducing the drop out rate and increase the literacy rate in the state as well as in the country, Ms Laxmi observed that the government was allocating only four to five percent funds in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. It should be increased to seven per cent to achieve the goals in primary education.

Calling upon the people participate in the campaign vulentarily and educate the people about the importance of primary education, Ms Laxmi said the standards of the primary education should also be improved in government schools to compete the students at global level.
