MCX comdex up 50.12 pts

Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) The multi-commodity exchange index today went up by 50.12 points to close at 2,258.64. The weekly turnover of Rs 51,856.66 crores. The week saw MCX record the highest daily turnover of Rs 17,987.65 single sided yesterday at the close of trading hours. The previous highest turnover recorded was Rs 15,042.27 crores single sided on Wednesday at the close of trading hours.

Meanwhile, the MCX COMDEX was up 50.12 points during the course of the week; while MCX has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs 51,856.66 crores for the period April 15 to 20, 2006.

The MCX Metal Index was down 22.49 points while MCX Energy Index was up 137.25 points. MCX Agri Index was also up by 35.61 points.

MCX Silver (May 06) has recorded a turnover of Rs 22,422.72 crores while MCX Gold (June 06) registered a turnover of Rs 21,515.97 crores. The outstanding position for MCX Silver (May 06) for the week was 4,00,540 kgs. The outstanding open interest for MCX Gold (June 06) was 10,806 kgs.

In the metal segment MCX Copper (April 06) registered a turnover of Rs 2,079.09 crores with open interest of 6,366 tons; while MCX Zinc (April 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 1684.17 crores, with open interest of 9,815 tons. In the energy segment MCX Crude Oil (May 06) contracts showed a turnover of Rs 1,767.01 crores with open interest of 5,13,800 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX was as follows MCX Urad (May 06) registered a turnover of Rs 485.51 crores, with open interest of 18,070 tons. MCX Chana (May 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 196.72 crores, with open interest of 17,580 tons.

MCX Masur (May 06) with open interest of 10,320 tons registered a turnover of Rs 139.38 crores. MCX Tur (May 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 132.71 crores, with open interest of 3,710 tons.

Some of the other major commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover - MCX Mentha Oil (April 06) registered a turnover of Rs 233.27 crores, with open interest of 33,91,920 kgs.

MCX Refined Soy Oil (May 06) with open interest of 22,150 tons registered a turnover of Rs 511.89 crores. MCX Potato (June 06) registered a turnover of Rs 121.22 crores, with open interest of 77,190 tons.
