Emirates Shipping Line to partner container service

Mumbai, Apr 21: The Dubai-based Emirates Shipping Line FZE, will launch a new container service christened Indus Express (IDX), conneting several India ports on a port rotation basis with Colombo-Barcelona-New York-Barcelona-Colombo route.

The new IDX service , subject to FMC approval, is in partnership with several key partners, where Emirates Shipping will provide two 3,000 ton TEU ships out of eight.

Emirates Shipping Line CEO Vikas Khan said, '' The first of the container carrier will sail from Colombo on May 24. The port rotation of the IDX service is Colombo-Tuticorin-Nhava Sheva-Mundra-Barcelona-New York-Borfolk-Charleston-Barcelona-Colombo.

The IDX launch marks the first step in building a comprehensive network of service connecting strategic commericial and trading centres around the world,'' adding, ''by including the Indian ports of Tuticorin, Nhava Sheva and Mundra in the port rotation of the new IDX service the company is making a clear and powereful commitment to the growth of transport business into and out of the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and China, linking it to the rest of the world.'' Khan said, '' Emiretes Shiping Agencies (India) Private Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of the Emirates Shipping group, led by managing director Vijay Minocha, will represent company's interests in India.'' The company has appointed Sterling Navigation Agencies (Pvt) Ltd. as its agent in Sri Lanka, Star Navigation Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, Starship Agencies (MAL) Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and PT Maer Translino Pratama in Indonesia.
