Tax revenue on rise in Mizoram

Aizawl, Apr 20: The Mizoram government today announced that the tax revenues is on the rise every year.

A review meeting of the Tax department held at Tax Commissioner T B C Rozara's office revealed that the revenue collection through taxes had increased from 2004-05.

Rs 3321.27 lakhs had been collected during 2004-05 while the total revenue during 2005-06 was Rs 4596 lakhs, an increase of Rs 1274 lakhs.

The Taxation department has also overshot its target by Rs 876.50 lakhs to Rs 3719.50 in 2005-06.

Speaking at the meeting, Rozara hailed his staff for making all-out efforts to collect revenues and meet the target.

He said in 2006-07, the department's would focus on building department structures, efficient administrative set ups, better infrastructure and streamlined enforcement.

The Taxation department is also planning to computerise all tax offices and checkgates.
