Siamese twins taken to Pearl City for surgery
Hyderabad, Apr 20 (UNI) Siamese Twins Veena and Vani, born with their heads con joined, were shifted to the Niloufer Children's Hospital here for further surgery and separation.
Sources said Dr Nayudamma, an expert in separating siamese twins, performed a preliminary surgery on the twins in 2004 at the Guntur General Hospital.
As he retired later, other surgeons at the hospital did not undertake the separation, which was a very critical procedure.
Following reports that the girls were languishing in the hospital without undergoing the surgery, the Andhra Pradesh Government yesterday shifted them to Niloufer, which was better equipped, for performign the separation surgery at its cost.
Dr Nayudamma volunteered to perform the surgery with the government's permission. Doctors at Niloufer are presently examining the children.
