Security of citizens adversely affected

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 20, (UNI) BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said the security of citizens has been adversely affected by the policies adopted by the UPA government in the past two years in the country.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Advani alleged extremism, farmers' suicides and ISI led terrorist activities had severely affected the security of the nation and its citizens.

Naxal violence was the biggest threat to the internal security of the nation, he said, adding the UPA government has discarded the policies pursued by the NDA government to curb Naxal activities.

He criticised the Andhra Pradesh government as it held 'peace talks' with the Naxals without their laying down arms.

Referring to the problems facing by the Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the country, Mr Advani demanded that the government announce a comprehensive policy for their welfare. The NDA government had constituted a separate ST Commission and ministry to uplift the STs, he said.
