Ruling SP leader shot dead

Jaunpur, Apr 20 (UNI) A ruling Samajwadi Party leader was gunned down by unidentified miscreants under Baksha area here late last night, police today said.

Phulai Yadav was attacked at his residence in Utrijpur village in his sleep, police superintendent Abhay Kumar Prasad said.

Yadav was admitted to the district hospital and died while being taken to Varanasi for treatment.

Yadav was the husband of Utrijpur village pradhan Mamta Yadav.

Investigations were underway.
