Rs 1.34 crore distributed in Kupwara
Srinagar, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government has provided financial assistance of Rs 1.34 crore to 25000 persons under various social welfare schemes in the north Kashmir district of Kupwara, once the hub of militants.
An official spokesman said the Social Welfare department during the last fiscal year has provided financial assistance to 25000 persons, including 4115 old age persons and 20780 were covered under integrated social security scheme.
Similarly, 1400 deserving persons were given financial assistance of Rs 74.44 lakh under the rehabilitation of Militancy affected and National Foundation for communal harmony schemes.
This was stated at a meeting of officers chaired by District Development Commissioner Abdul Majeed Khanday here today to review pace of implementation on various social welfare schemes in the district.
It was given out that Rs five lakh have been incurred on maintenance of Bal Ashram and Nari Nikatan in the district.
