Myanmar army delegation meets Indian army
Kohima, Apr 20: A 21-member high level delegation of Myanmar army has arrived at Rangapahar to discuss issues of mutual interest.
Rangapahar, the headquarters of 3 corps, is located near Dimapur.
The Myanmar delegation, led by Brigadier General Tin Moung, appreciated the border trade point at Moreh(Manipur) which they termed the 'Gateway to India' and the union government's 'look east' policy.
The members who arrived yesterday will stay at Rangapahar for two days. They are expected to discuss the Indo-Myanmar border trade issues.
The members are likely to discuss Government of India's proposed border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar international border.
Official sources said the delegation would also take up imparting training to their army, especially on guerrilla warfare to combat Indian insurgent groups.
These groups have their camps along the Indo-Myanmar international border inside Myanmar.
The delegation also exchanged intelligence information beneficial to both countries.
