MDU to introduce job-oriented courses

Chandigarh, Apr 20 (UNI) The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) will introduce various job-oriented professional courses from the coming academic session (2006-2007).

MDU Vice-Chancellor R S Dhankar said the university was planning to introduce M.Sc. (Medical Bio- technology) and M.Sc. (Food Processing Technology) in the Advanced Centre for Bio-technology, Diploma Course in French, Certificate Course in German&Spanish.

It would also start B.Tech. (IT) and M. Tech. (Computer Science&Technology), M.Sc.(Mathematics with Computer Science), M.B.A.

(International Business) in the Institute of Law&Management Studies, Gurgaon and B. Ed. (Self Financing Scheme).

Besides, there was a plan to start University Evening College of Professional Studies from the next academic session. Various professional courses at the undergraduate level would be conducted in the evening college.

Prof Dhankar said the MDU had also decided to establish a 'Centre for Haryana Studies' on the campus. This centre will conduct multi- disciplinary studies on historical, political, economic, social, literary-cultural, geographical aspects of Haryana.

The university would also set up a Centre for Non-Conventional Energy. This centre would be established to further the cause of higher education and research in the sphere on non- conventional energy, he added.
