Mass marriage of 152 girls in naxal infested Sonebhadra
Robertsganj, Apr 20 (UNI) Amid chanting of Vedic hymns, 152 girls from economically weaker sections tied the nuptial knot in the Naxal infested Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh last night.
The newly weds included two physically challenged girls, while the ceremony was attended by several senior bureaucrats and political figures.
The mass marriage was organised at Ramgarh Market under Pannuganj area of the district.
Heavy deployment of police personnel was there in the area as Sonebhadra is infamous for crimes perpetuated by dacoits and Naxalites.
A feast was later hosted for an estimated 5,000 people.
