Last rites of slain TDP leader pass off peacefully

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 20 (UNI) The last rites of former MLA and TDP leader K Suryaprathap Reddy, who was murdered at Tadipatri railway station, were performed in Thimmampalli village under Tadipatri mandal amid tight police security.

Thousands of the late TDP leader's followers attended the funeral. His body was taken to the cremation ground on a flower-bedecked vehicle. His followers showered flower petals and shouted ''Suryapratap Reddy Amar Rahe.'' Police were depolyed in large numbers in both Tadipatri and Thimmampalli soon after the murder to avoid retaliatory violence.
