Eighty fake doctors arrested

Surat, Apr 20 (UNI) In a joint raid in various part of the city, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the police arrested 80 fake doctors.

According to SMC authorities, all the 80 quacks, who were arrested from various parts of the city yesterday, were practicing without proper qualification.

SMC Public Relation Officer (PRO) Hirnesh Bhavsar said today that the Corporation had recently received many complaints and the health department was 'keeping a watch' on the quacks.

Mr Bhavsar informed that the quacks were targetting mainly the illiterate people of the city.

The raids were conducted in Rander, Mahidharpura, Kapodra, Kadargam, Varachha, Limbayat and Udhna.

SMC Deputy Commissioner(Health) Dr I C Patel said that the Corporation is presently on a clean up drive to check medical malpractices.
