City court sentences one to 10-year RI for robbery
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) A city court has sentenced a 30-year-old man to ten-year imprisonment for committing board daylinght robbery at Kalkaji in South Delhi eight years ago.
After hearing the arguments of both the prosecution and the defence on Tuesday, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Vinod Kumar, held Rohtas guilty of robbing Rs 4200 from the complainant, A K Mishra, 42, a doctor and sentenced him to ten-year imprisonment.
The court further slapped a fine of Rs 8000 on Rohtas.
On November 29, 1998, at about 1000 hrs, Mishra was on his way towards Lal Kuan Chowk. Rohtas came from opposite side, stoped his car and forcibly entered into his car and robbed Rs 4200 at gun-point. Rohtas was arrested in Gurgaon, according to the prosecution.
Rohtas was convicted under sections 365 (Kidnapping with an intention to wrongfully confine a person) and 395 (Dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
