CBI directed to probe against corrupt MCD engineers
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the CBI to institute a probe against the engineers of the MCD who had been suspended or dismissed for their alleged involvement in the unauthorised contructions in the Capital.
A division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma, asked the CBI Director to file the prelimenary enquiry (PE) aganist the corrupt engineers, and also file a priliminary probe report before the court in four weeks.
Adjourning the matter for further direction till April 27, the court directed the CBI Director to constitute a team headed by a Joint Director to probe into the matter.
The court said the CBI should also probe into the nexus between the corrupt engineers and their political bosses in delibrately allowing unathorised constructions in Delhi.
The ambit of inquiry should also be extended to other corrupt officials in the MCD, the court added.
