Asom to get a non-Congress government: Satish

Itanagar, Apr 20 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party will be emerging as a major force in the post-poll scenario in Asom and the state would witness a major political change soon, claimed party's Northeast organizational in-charge V Satish today.

Briefing mediapersons here, the BJP leader alleged that an anti-Congress wave was sweeping the state and a change was in the offing.

Congress is losing ground in the state and Asom would see a non-Congress government, Mr Satish said.

About a possible alliance with any regional parties of similar ideologies, the BJP leader said so far no such move has been planned, neither any parties have approached the BJP with such a proposal.

Asked how the party would fare in the elctions this time, he said barring the Chapaguri seat, performance of the party contesting in 125 seats would be impressive this time.

'' Wait and watch for the results,'' he said.

To a question regarding the move of various parties to form the next government in Asom, Mr Satish said few parties were hankering for support and advocated the cause of Bangladeshi migrants. Replying to a question regarding Asom's Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's allegation that the party was depending on cine and TV stars for electioneering in the state, he said that all those stars who campaigned for the party in Asom were active party members.
