4 charred to death in fireworks unit explosion
Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, Apr 20 (UNI) Four people engaged in manufacturing fireworks, were charred to death in a blast at a private unit at Pernaickenpatti near here today.
Police said a spark from friction caused the blast which razed to the ground the tiny 11 X 15 ft concrete-roof room. All the victims died on the spot.
The deceased, all employees of the company, were identified as Ulagammal (45), S Nagaiah (50), S Chinnadurai (35) and M Muthuraj (45).
Explosions in fire cracker units here and in adjoining areas are being reported frequently even as producers claim they are not alarming compared to China.
