2 minors rescued from brothel, woman arrested
Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) Two minor girls were rescued from a brothel at Kamathipura here yesterday.
The woman, who ran the brothel, has been arrested.
Acting on the information given by Save Children India, a non-governmental organisation, the city police raided the brothel operating in Lambi Chawl on the Paththe Bapurao Marg and rescued the girls -- one 14-year-old and the other 17 years of age -- at around 2030 hrs yesterday, police said today.
Police have arrested brothel owner Asha Sonar (40). Three others -- Sona, Reshma and an unidentified person are absconding.
The girls hail from West Bengal, police said. They were brought to Mumbai by Sona and Reshma under the pretext of providing them with jobs, but were sold to the brothel owner.
