Woman held for cheating Post Office

Aizawl, Apr 18 (UNI) A 22-year old woman has been arrested by the police for cheating the head post office here yesterday.

Police said Laltalsangi of ITI area had withdrawn one lakh from her post office saving account, where she actually deposited Rs 100.

According to the official sources, the accused had opened a savings account with the main post office last year with the intial deposit of Rs 100. Adding three zeros to the figure in her pass book, she asked permission to close here account.

Soon after she closed here account, it was discovered that the woman had defrauded the post office. Fortunately, the alert postal workers spotted her in Treasury square area and recovered from her Rs 88,725 along with furniture she had purchased.

A case has been registered against here, the police added.
