Viva Kerala beat Titanium 7-5
Kozhikode, Apr 18 (UNI) Viva Kerala stormed into the final of the Third Royal Challenge Kerala State Football League shooting out Titanium, Thiruvanthapuram, 7-5, via tie-breaker in the semi finals here today.
The tie-breaker was necessitated as the teams were tied at 2-2 after extra time.
Viva, which started the proceedings, netted the first goal through Baba Thunde in the 38th minute, while the hard working Edbin Rose of Titanium brought the parity two minutes later. (1-1) After lemon break, Baba again with a beautiful goal put Viva 2-1 lead. However, the joy did not last long as Jackson Sebastian of the losers levelled the score again (2-2), necessitating the extra time.
However, the teams failed to breaki the deadlock.
In the shoot out Shine Raj, Denson Devadas, Suresh Babu, Baba Thune and Arun Appukkuttan converted all the kicks for the winners, while for the losers Shabeer K P, Abdul Ahamed K P and Martin Perera scored. Ranjit missed the mark.
In the second semi final tomorrow State Bank of Travancore will take on Kerala State Electricity Board.
