Veteran actor Jamenees passes away

Kolhapur, Apr 18 (UNI) Veteran Marathi film and drama actor Sharad alias Bal Jamenees died following a prolonged illness here yesterday.

He was 72 and is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.

He acted in various films and dramas between 1950 and 1976, famous ones being 'Dhanaji Santaji' where he essayed the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and 'Saibaba' in which he played a villanious role.

He also acted in dramas like 'Sangeet Saubhadra', 'Jaidev,' 'Swayanvar,' 'Mruchhakateek', 'Mahashwta' among others.

He received two gold and bronze medals each from Maharashtra government's cultural department, besides other awards.
