Itanagar, Apr 18: The Arunachal Pradesh government has maintained transparency and fairness in recruitment of teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), according to state education secretary A.K.Acharya.

Mr Acharaya's comment came in the backdrop of the strong resentments from various quarters' regarding anomalies in recruitment of various categories of teachers under centrally sponsored SSA project.

''The selection of teachers under SSA is done as per laid down norms and guidelines and there is no malafide intention whatsoever in the entire process'', he clarified adding that interviews for these recruitments were held uniformly on the same day all throughout the state.

Mr Acharya further clarified that there was no such SSA norm which specified that a person should be recruited only from the particular district. ''This matter concerns not only the affected districts but the whole state'', he added.

Mr Acharya informed that another new method devised for fair and impartial selection of the rightful candidates was holding of the interview in the concerned circle headed by the circle officer and board members comprising village education committee to oversee the entire procedure.

''In rest of the states in the country, there is a centralized system of holding this interview where the candidates get the option of selecting their posting place according to their merit in the list. But in Arunachal, unlike previous occasions where the interview was conducted at the district headquarters, now it is conducted at the concerned circle keeping in view the topography and its peculiar needs as well as following the guidelines of the Centre,'' he pointed out.
