Three killed in French military helicopter crash

TOULOUSE, France, Apr 18 (Reuters) Three French military personnel died today when their helicopter crashed in an accident in the Hautes-Pyrenees region in the south of the country, the local authorities said.

The Puma helicopter, which belonged to the fifth helicopter combat regiment of Pau in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques region, crashed on the side of a mountain a little before 1200 GMT (1730 hrs ist) Rescue officials at the scene of the accident, near the town of Bareges, said the helicopter might have hit cables used to transport equipment and men before crashing.
