Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today alleged that the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government had encouraged factionalism in Rayalaseema region, which had claimed many lives during TDP rule and in the present too.
TDP leader and former MLA Suryapratap Reddy was killed in Anantapur district this morning as a result of increased factionalism in Rayalaseema region during the TDP regime, they claimed.
A press release from Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy, Whips S Udaya Bhanu and D Sridhar Babu here alleged TDP President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu encouraged groupism and threatened Congress leaders to join the party during his rule.
The TDP was politicising the murder and Mr Naidu was encouraging factionalism as an opposition leader in the state, they said, warning that the TDP President would face'' dire consequences'' if he persisted in faction-minded politics and face the people's anger in future.
