Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today called for the Centre's to intervention to curb political violence''in the state.

He demanded that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy must step down for his failure to curb continuing political killings in the state Holding Panchayat Raj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy, against whom slain TDP leader K Suryapratap Reddy had unsuccessfully contested the last elections, responsible for the today's murder, Mr Naidu demanded at a press conference here that he should be immediately dropped from the cabinet.

The party had ''lost faith in the CBI'' and upset with the way the Congress, which was also in power at the Centre, had misused the premier investigating agency, he alleged.

The Chief Minister had assured him in the wake of Ravindra's murder that such killings would not recur. ''He has no right to continue in office as he has failed to do so'', Mr Naidu charged.

Instead of taking firm steps to stop political killings, Dr Reddy was justifying the killings in the Rayalaseema region by giving historical reasons, he alleged.

Earlier, Mr Naidu along with a large number of party leaders including TDP Parliamentary Party Leader K Yerran Naidu paid floral tributes to the portrait of the deceased leader.
