Written by: Staff

Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) The rupee today opened stronger at 45.04/05 per US dollar against the previous close of 45.12/13, said a foreign exchange (forex) dealer here.

Rupee traded at 45.14/15 at 1130 hrs.

Crude oil price in the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) touched a new high of USD 70.70 per barrel, which was putting pressure on the rupee.

Also the foreign fund outflow of Rs 960.50 crore on Thursday as reported by SEBI, was likely to keep rupee bearish.

However, continued bull run in the stock markets as it surged 200 points to 11,739 on the Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) kept rupee bullish, backed by impressive finanical results in the fourth quarter by Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services.
