Pranab should write to Cong on Telangana: BJP
Vijayawada, Apr 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sub-Committee Chairman on Telangana Pranab Mukherjee to elicit the stand of his party on carving out a separate Telangana.
Talking to newspersons here, senior BJP leader and former National President M Venkaiah Naidu said the party was committed to the concept of smaller states and the party's support was already made clear.
Mr Naidu said Mr Mukherjee should stop levelling baseless allegations on the BJP that it has not responded to the letter written to them. "First you write a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and clear the confusion," he suggested.
He said the party was not bound to reply to the letter of Mr. Mukherjee and, moreover, the Congress had not even passed a resolution to this effect in the State assembly.
As the Congress party and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) made a commitment on the issue before the elections, the policy of the Government should be evident, he said.
If the policy of the Government was made clear the issue will be solved once for all, he added.
