PDP, Jamaat should disclose ''means and ends'': E Ahamed
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 18 (UNI) Indian Union Muslim League leader and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed today said the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of Abdul Nazer Madany and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) should disclose their ''means and ends.'' Participating at a meet-the-press programme of the Kesari Memorial Journalists' Trust here, he said the IUML's ''means and ends'' were clear as it was functioning as a poltical party for the welfare of the minorities and backward communities.
As a political party, the IUML had always projected its secular credentials and had not stood against the Constitution or taken any anti-people policies, he claimed and said that the PDP and the JeI could not, in anyway, influence the Muslim community.
Stating that the IUML was against extremism as it was against the interest of the country, Mr Ahamed said ''we should take all our efforts to bring the people involved in extremist activities back to the mainstream''. It was not a good tendency to push them again to the extremism, he added.
As the Muslim community knew the IUML activities and its secular stand, both the the PDP and JeI would not in any way influence the community as both the outfits had no clear ''means and ends'', he added.
Rejecting the exit poll results which favoured the Left Democratic Front, he said the Congress-led United Democratic Front would return to power and as such polls had no credibility.
