New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) It was an evening marked by religious feeling as singers Narendra Chanchal, Shankar Sahni and Kumar Vishu enthralled a huge audience of "believers" gathered in the capital with their rendition of religious songs.
Chanchal, Sahni and Vishu led a host of new singers in imparting a religious fervour at a function here last evening to celebrate the third anniversary function of the Sadhna TV channel.
The function, which was presided over by former Union minister Murli Manohar Joshi, also saw the audience treated to a discourse by religious preacher Sadhvi Rithambhara.
Addressing the gathering, Sadhvi Rithambara, coming down at the increasing influence of the West among the modern Indian youth, urged people to feel proud of their Indianness which she felt was the greatest form of patriotism.
Congratulating Sadhna TV channel for completing three years, she lauded its role in spreading successfully the message and gospels of Hindu religion in Indian and Northeast Asia as well as in Europe and the US where the channel is being beamed for the last six months.
The function saw attendence from several political, social and religious leaders.
On the occasion, the Jatropha plantation project started by the Sadhna TV group in Tamil Nadu in a big way, was also inaugurated by Dr Joshi.
According to Managing director of Sadhna TV Rakesh Gupta, the company is taking over 20000 acres of agricultural land in four districts of Tamil Nadu.
Bio diesel produced from Jatropha seeds will reduce pollution, save foreign exchange and bring down the import of crude oil, he said He also expressed the hope that the project would generate employment for thousands of unemployed youth, make the land fertile and bring Green revolution in remor areas, which are not being cultivated so far.
