MGM channel to be available on Dishtv from May

Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) Home entertainment provider Dishiv has tied-up with Metro-Goldwyns-Mayer (MGM) channel to distribute the latter in India on its direct to home (DTH) platform.

With this move, the Dishtv viewers will be able to watch Hollywood movies on their television sets from next month.

''The tie-up with MGM is in line with our product planning process for city-specific customers, who would be offered the best of the programming on TV,'' DishTV India CEO Sunil Khanna said.

With the Indian market at the threshold of transforming itself from an analog to digital environment, it is estimated that in the next five years, close to 20 million households would have digital set top boxes (STBs), a release issued here said.

''We have earmarked India as a market whose growth potential is high, and we are confident that our association with Dishtv will supplement our growth further,'' MGM Networks Executive Vice-President Bruce Tuchman said.

He claimed that MGM studios own the world's largest library of modern films, comprising about 4,000 titles.
