MCX Comdex up 15.66 pt

Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) The multi-commodity exchange commodity index today went up by 15.66 points to close at 2,288.83, a gain of 0.68 per cent from the previous close at 2,273.17.

After opening at 2,273.58, the MCX COMDEX achieved a high of 2293.05 and a low of 2273.58 before closing at 2288.83.

MCX recorded a turnover of Rs 5,090.53 crores at 1700 hrs today, an official release said.

The MCX Metal Index was up by 26.09 points (0.98 per cent), while MCX Agri Index fell 6.89 points (0.45 per cent). MCX Energy Index recorded a gain of 27.77 points (1.04 per cent).

The combined MCX Bullion registered a turnover of Rs.3,914.90 crores, including various MCX Gold Rs 2,140.98 crores and MCX Silver Rs 1,773.92 crores. The total number of trades recorded for the MCX Bullion were 39,439. The open interest for Gold was 12,552 kgs , while the outstanding position for Silver was 4,29,180 kgs.

In the Metals segment Zinc, registered a turnover of 565.37 crores with 6,287 trades and the outstanding position 9,670 metric tonnes, while MCX Copper registered a turnover of Rs 332.55 crores with 8,433 trades.

In the Energy segment, Crude Oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs.158.92 crores.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were:- Urad Rs 107.19 crores, with 2,357 trades, Masur Rs 43.33 crores, with 370 trades, while Tur was a major loser and recorded a turnover of Rs 37.13 crores, with 339 trades. Channa registered a turnover of Rs 37.99 crores, with 1,153 trades.

Potato was a loser and recorded a turnover of Rs 24.62 crores, with 881 trades, while Mentha oil Rs 38.94 crores with 1,989 trades, the release added.
