Maoist area commander arrested

Bhagalpur, Apr 18 (UNI) CPI(Maoist) area commander Laldev alias Baba was arrested from the vicinity of Ganga bridge last night, police today said.

The extremist was wanted by police in a number of cases including, Jehanabad jail break, Madhuban carnage and assassination of Munger police superintendent K C Surendra Babu.

The government had announced a cash reward of Rs 1.50 lakhs for his arrest, police sources said.

The hardcore Maoist was chalking out plans to blow up the Ganga bridge and secure release of incarcerated comrades lodged in high security Bhagalpur jail besides strengthening the organisational base of the party, sources added.
