Manu Sharma gets bail

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Prime accused in the Jessica Lal murder case, Manu Sharma was granted bail today by the Delhi High Court.

A division bench comprising Justice Manmohan Sareen and Justice J M Malik released Sharma on bail directing him to furnish a bond of Rs one lakh and a surety of equal amount before the Registrar General.

The rest of the accused, except Vikas Gill, who were also released on bail, would have to furnish a bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of equal amount for their release on bail on April 25.

The court issued a non-bailable warrant against Vikas Gill, returnable on May 25 as he failed to appear before the court.

Counsel Mukta Gupta, appearing for Delhi Police, submitted that despite all efforts the notice could not be served on Vikas Gill.

The court sought the assistance of Delhi Police for completing the translation of the trial court record from Hindi to English within six weeks.

The court adjourned the matter till April 25 asking Ms Gupta to inform the bench about the process of translation of the records.

Fixing May 15 as the next date of hearing, the bench asked the respondents not to leave the country without the permission of the court.

Accused Vikas Yadav, who is in judicial custody for allegedly murdering Nitish Katara, was asked to furnish the bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety before the jail superintendent Tihar Central Jail.

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh, Amardeep Singh Gill and Manu Sharma's uncle were among those present in the court during the proceedings.
