HC fixes Apr 27 as date for hearing in contempt case

Lucknow, Apr 18 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today fixed April 27 as next date of hearing in a contempt of court case involving 13 lawyers.

A Division Bench of the HC comprising Justices O P Srivastava and Shailendra Saxena passed the order.

Appearing for the 13 lawyers State Advocate General S M A Kazmi informed the HC that the lawyers, had called off their ten-day old strike and legal services were restored.

Mr Kazmi further said that relations between the Bar and Judical Bench too had improved considerably.

Three of the 13 laywers involved in the case have filed applications with HC requesting that the April six last court order prohibiting them from entering court premises be withdrawn.

On the last hearing in the case, taking suo moto notice of criminal acts by certain lawyers in subordinate courts, the HC had issued contempt of court notices to 13 lawyers and prohibited their entry in the court premises.
