Siddharthnagar (UP), Apr 18: After facing a humiliating defeat at the hands of former Union Minister Sharad Yadav in the elections to party president's post recently, former Defence Minister and Janata Dal (United) president George Fernandes is all set to form a new party.
JD(U) national executive member T P Mishra told sources here today that the NDA convenor will make an announcement in this regard, after the Election Commission decides on his complaint, alleging irregularities in the election to party presidents post.
Mr Mishra alleged that party election officer Anil Hegde had recommended that the election to the top post be postponed as list of JD(U) members were not available from many states. But the opposite group in the party, led by Sharad Yadav, played a trick and ''After changing the election officer and subsequently holding the party president poll at the national executive in Patna on April 9 last, they managed to get Mr Fernandes defeated,'' he claimed.
Mr Fernandes will float a new party once the Commission decides over the matter, Mr Mishra claimed.
