Farmers pledge to construct 11 water bodies

Bhopal, Apr 18 (UNI) Inspired by the Jalabhishek Abhiyan launched by the Madhya Pradesh Government, eleven farmers at Bhuteda village in Ratlam district have pledged to construct pond-like water bodies in their farms before May 30.

The peasants took the pledge before local MLA Rajendra Pandey and Collector Dipti Gaud Mukherjee during a programme organised as a part of the campaign, as per an official release here today.

A 'Kalash Yatra' was taken out besides offering of 'Bhumi Poojan' for a stop-dam being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 12 lakh.

A target has been set to construct at least five water bodies in every village of Ratlam district as a part of the campaign.

The Jalabhishek Abhiyan had been launched in the state on April 2 in view of depleting ground water level.
