Electrolux strengthens presence in India
New Delhi, Apr 18: As a part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in India, consumer appliance major, Electrolux has opened a new office in Gurgaon and appointed Mr Fredrick Janson as its President (Major Appliances) for the country.
''We have a long term commitment to India and we are putting in place the building blocks to enhance the Electrolux brand in India.
The new office in India will look after consumer research, marketing, product management, quality monitoring and international liason on marketing and technical matters,'' Mr Janson said.
Electrolux, the largest consumer appliance producer, also launched its global marketing campaign 'Thinking of You' in India.
The new office will look after the business of Electrolux in India and will closely work in partnership with the Videocon Group which has the sole right to market all Electrolux and Kelvinator products in the country.
''The Indian market has huge potential and we are really doing well and have huge expectations. Our Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) is expected to grow by 10.4 per cent in the next three years and our frost free segment is expected to double. The refrigerator segment is expected to increase by 5 to 8 per cent while the air conditioning is expected to rise by 15.4 per cent,'' Mr Janson said.
When asked about its partnership with Videocon, Mr Janson said that Electrolux Kelvinator is a seperate entity with shares in Videocon and also has a director on Videocon's board.
On their strategic plans, he said that Electrolux will roll out new products and is moving to more premium segments.
He also added that the company is not looking for acqusitions at the moment and also does not have any plans for setting up manufacturing units in India in the near future. Electrolux is planning to introudce a new range of semi-automatic washing machines in the 5.5-6 and 7 kg segments in June 2006.
Its high-capacity convection microwave oven with 360-degree Maxiwave will also be introduced shortly.
