DMK functionary booked

Pondicherry, Apr 18 (UNI) Police today registered cases against a DMK functionary A K Kumar and 20 others for organising a road-roko at Thirukkanu in Mannadipet constiteuncy a few days back.

It may be noted that the DMK was allotted the Mannadipet constituency and the party had nominated A K Kumar as it's candidate.

However, the seat was later given back to Congress and the supporters of Kumar organised a road roko demanding that the seat be reallocated to the DMK.

Several trees were felled to block traffic on the Mannadipet-Thirukkanur road and police arrested five persons in connection with the case.

While cases of disrupting public life and threatening passangers were registered against Kumar and 20 others,five others were charged with felling PWD trees.The five were produced before judicial magistrate-one, Mr Swarnam Natarajan, and remanded to 15 days custody.
