Day temperatures remain below normal in Punjab, Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 18 (UNI) The plains of Punjab and Haryana today had a respite from heat due to light showers and drizzle in the adjoining Shivalik foothills of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh in the past 24 hours.
The maximum temperatures in the region remained two to four degrees below normal.
The city recorded the maximum of 32.4 degrees Celsius (C), four degrees below normal.
In Haryana, the day temperature remained four degrees below normal in Karnal and Ambala where the maximum was 32 C and 32.3 C respectively.
The maximum was, however, one degree above normal in Amritsar at 35 C, the highest in the two states.
It was two degrees below normal in Ludhiana and Patiala at 34 C and 33.8 C respectively.
In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, recorded 4.6 mm rainfall, while Sundernagar recorded 2.8mm, Bhuntar 17.3 mm and Kalpa 10.3 mm rainfall.
According to the weather forecast here, light to moderate rain or thundershowers would likely occur at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana.
