Cabinet approves Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) The Cabinet today approved the proposal to implement the Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir under which Rs 8.49375 crore will be released during 2006-07 as part of the Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY).

Briefing mediapersons after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal said relaxation had been made in the existing guidelines of the SJSRY.

''The Reconstruction Plan will be applicable to the Urban BPL ...and the funding will be in the ratio of 90:10 between the Centre and the state,'' he said.

The total amount of Rs 8.49375 crore will be inclusive of administrative cost --Rs 0.6875 crore-- for the implementation of the plan.

The total requirement of Government funds is Rs 9.4375 crore of which 10 pe cent-- Rs 94.375 lakh will be contributed by the State Government Mr Sibal said the SJSRY scheme is expected to provide rapid employment to targeted beneficiaries in Jammu and Kashmir.
