'PM must make categorical statement on N-issue'

Vijayawada, Apr 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must make a categorical statement on the nuclear issue.

Addressing a press conference here, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu alleged that reports emanating from Unite States that the nuclear agreement between India and the U S has already raised many doubts in the minds of the people. ''The U S was trying to impose international curbs on the Indian nuclear issue,'' he charged.

Reports coming out of U S suggest that they want indian to behave like obedient students with the U S inspectors giving a character certificate every year, he alleged, adding this was not acceptable and must be strongly opposed.

The Prime Minister must ensure that the dignity of the country was protected, Mr Naidu stressed.
