BJP condemns incident, demands action against accused

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today condemned the incident in which supporters of Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari clashed with mediapersons at Prime Minister's residence today and said the Government must take it seriously.

Party Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said such kind of behaviour by either the Shah Imam or his supporters was unbecoming.

"I feel that it is the result of government's undue encouragement to the minorities in pursuant to its appeasement policy," he said.

Mr Naqvi said since the incident had occurred at the Prime Minister's residence, it was expected that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the government would take it seriously and punish the guilty.
