New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Stung by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee's admonition to secure classified information against leakage, the Army's top Commanders at their biannual Conference today deliberated new norms for computer and cyber security to safeguard confidentiality.

Among other options, the Army Commanders -- meeting here for a weeklong review of their operational readiness and training, dwelt upon instituting ''Pass Phrases'' in place of ''Pass Words'' to further ensure secure cyber operations, an official spokesperson said.

Earlier, setting the tone for the day's deliberations, Army Chief General JJ Singh directed his Commanders to ''plug any loophole'' in men, system and technology, if any to secure data.

While inaugurating the Conference yesterday, Minister Mukherjee had pulled up the forces for ''gross violation of norms of secrecy and confidentiality'' in ''some recent'' cases.

The Army Commanders were also addressed separately by Naval Chief Admiral Arun Prakash and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi with both stressing upon operational jointness among the Armed Forces.

Future conflicts, they stressed, would be aimed at achieving technological superiority and energy security, among others, and were more likely to take place against non-state players.
