Six die, five injured in tempo-jeep collision

Sangli, Apr 17 (UNI) Six people died on the spot and five others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a tempo and a jeep in Tasgaon tehsil of the district.

The mishap took place when the family, hailing from Kavathemahankal and Jat tehsils of Sangli district, was returning home yesterday in a jeep from Tasgaon after attending their relative's funeral, police today said.

The four injured have been hospitalised in Sangli civil hospital, while one has been admitted to a private hospital, police added.

The deceased have been identified as - Balasaheb Bapu Potdar (50), his wife Surekha (42), Kamal Rajaram Potdar (50), Vithal Murlidhar Potdar (40), his wife Minakshi (30) and jeep driver Abhijit Dugane (30).
